Apsley Henley Med appointed developer for Woodlands Medical Centre in Didcot

Great Western Park GP surgery
Update on developer appointment
The former NHS Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West Integrated Care Board (BOB ICB) had been working to identify an alternative developer, following the decision that Assura’s proposal for the new Great Western Park Surgery building was not affordable or in line with the Premises Cost Directions (2024).
The former BOB ICB undertook an Expressions of Interest (EOI) process on behalf of Woodlands Medical Centre in Didcot to identify a developer to deliver the new building, within the financial parameters agreed by the District Valuer.
Following the EOI exercise and due diligence, Woodlands Medical Centre has appointed London based Apsley Henley Med Ltd as the new developer for the Great Western Park project.
Nick Bastian, director at Apsley Henley Med Ltd, said: “We are looking forward to working with the GP practice, Thames Valley ICB and Vale of White Horse District Council on this exciting scheme. Our team is ready and fired up to get started.”
Partners at the Woodland Medical Centre are hopeful the project can finally move forward, while recognising that several legal hurdles remain before construction can begin.
Next Steps
-
Progress the required legal agreements between all parties.
-
Complete the land transfer to the Vale of White Horse District Council
-
Continue engagement with the Woodlands Medical Centre and developer to keep the project moving and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
The Thames Valley ICB remains fully committed to delivering a new GP surgery in Great Western Park.
